Halloween graphicWith Halloween coming up, if you’ve been struggling with binge eating, emotional eating, or compulsive overeating and you’re going to have a load of Halloween candy in the house, then the next week or so could be a slippery slope towards binge eating, sugar hangovers, and shame.

It could end up being a veritable Halloween candy binge blowout (ack!) which could really send you into a spiral of prolonged binging.

More than likely a Halloween candy binge blowout is not the direction you want to head if you want to lose weight and feel great again. Also, if you want to gain control of your eating and break free of binge eating, emotional eating, and compulsive overeating, then yeah, I would expect that an all-out binge would not be on your wish list.

I Understand, I’ve Experienced the Cycle of Binge Eating too

I understand how easy it can be to fall into another cycle of binge eating though, if you’re going to have a lot of candy in the house where it will be so hard to resist. But what if you want to stay on your healthy eating journey? Or what if you want to clean up your eating?

Or what if you want to heal your eating so that you can stop binge eating altogether? And what if you want to lose weight and feel great again?

If you have healthy goals for yourself then you’ll likely want to avoid getting derailed by a Halloween candy binge blowout so then let’s take a look at 3 ways to avoid this.

3 Ways to Avoid a Halloween Candy Binge Blowout

1.) The Easiest Way to avoid a Halloween candy binge blowout is simply to avoid buying the candy in the first place.

Yes! It’s really that simple: just don’t buy Halloween candy and then you won’t have any in the house! This does present a problem though, if you had wanted to hand out Halloween candy to trick-or-treaters. Here’s a moment of truth though, or what I like to say, is a Get Real moment: do you really plan to hand out Halloween candy or are you using Halloween as an excuse to binge on candy?

This is a specific distinction, the latter because an excuse to binge based on a holiday. If you are using Halloween as an excuse to binge on candy, it could be that you’re also struggling with sugar addiction.

But what if you really do want to hand out Halloween candy, and you don’t want to binge eat on it?

2.) Wait until the day of Halloween to buy the candy, and buy just enough to hand out that night.

This option gives you the ability to hand out Halloween candy and hopefully you won’t have any at all left over. You could even give away the last bit of it at the end of the night. Just don’t buy the Halloween candy in advance because then you’ll run the risk of being a three-bagger, which I spoke about in my free weight loss podcast episode #044.

3.) Go within, heal the root of your overeating to have a better (and fitter!) life ahead.

This third option is not a quick fix but it’s the best fix if you want to get normal with food. This option is the one for you if you really want to break free of the binge and kick that old eating habit to the curb (yay!).
If you heal the root of your out-of-control eating then you’ll be able to let the binge eating behavior go along with unhealthy emotional eating and other unhealthy eating behaviors.
