Before you can get anything in life you have to know what you want and even that isn’t always enough – you’ve got to know exactly what you want.
Do you know what you want when it comes to your weight loss and fitness goals? Do you have your goals mapped out and written down? Even more importantly, do you know what you want your life to look like?
As you know I strongly advocate creating a healthy lifestyle to not only lose weight but also keep it off. The thing is though, that when you set out to change your lifestyle you also need to know what you want in that area. For example, some things you’ll need to determine are:
- How much time you will work out each day.
- If you’ll be working out in the morning, on a lunch break, or after work?
- If you’ll need a babysitter so that you can workout?
- How you will continue your healthy lifestyle when you go on vacation.
- What you will carry your bottles of water in when you go to work each day?
These might or might not sound like very simple questions however they are just a sampling of topics that could easily trip you up in your lifestyle shift. Take the last point on the list: drinking at least 100 oz of water each day might sound simple but in order to accomplish this you’ll need to drink much of that water while you’re at work.
If your workplace doesn’t provide bottled water you’ll need to carry that with you unless of course you prefer to drink tap water, then all you’ll need is a large container to fill so that you won’t have to keep getting up from your desk for water. Either way you’ll need to plan out how you’ll accomplish this each day and that habit will be a part of your lifestyle.
I suggest mapping out how a typical day will go for you and including all of the details of what you will need to accomplish your goals. Planning will bring you success and the success is in the details when it comes to weight loss and shaping up.
Action is required to move you towards your goals and that action is cumulative – it won’t happen overnight so it’s got to be a part of your lifestyle. This is a great thing though because those healthy lifestyle habits that you create will be the same habits that will help you keep the weight off for life, which after all is what you really want, right?
