It really isn’t hard to lose weight once you get out of your own way and allow yourself to lose weight.
What does this mean? Well, you always have a choice in your actions and you can just as easily choose healthy actions that will allow the fat to drop from your body as you can choose actions that will slow your metabolism and either add weight or keep the weight on your body.
When you take the route of choosing health rather than choosing dis-ease, you allow yourself to lose weight and when you choose the opposite state, the opposite of health and wellness, then you are putting up all of your blocks with all of your force against weight loss.
Why Would Anyone Do That??
So that’s a question….why would anyone or why would you get in your own way and block yourself from losing weight instead of allowing your body to shed the fat and feel great?
Well there could be many reasons, reasons which I cannot possibly garner from you personally through this post, lol since I do not know you, however here are a few that I can come up with in my own mind:
- Fear – Fear of success, fear of failure, fear of change, fear of the unknown.
- Wanting to be right instead of happy – If it’s more important to you to be right than it is to be happy by making some healthy changes in your life then you will stick with your unhealthy actions to prove to yourself that you are right. Yep, you’re right that’s it’s too hard and that you can’t do it if that’s what you believe, you are right. You can always find proof of whatever you want because you will seek it out – doesn’t mean that you will be allowing yourself to live with full joy and wellness, however you will be right. 😉
- Lack of Faith and Belief – If you do not believe in yourself and your abilities then you will not follow through and choose health and wellness over your unhealthy lifestyle. If you do not have faith in the wisdom of your body and it’s natural, inherent ability to repair itself then you will not believe that you can achieve the body of your dreams.
- Lack of Self-Love – When you do not love yourself as you would love a cherished loved one or best friend you will not value yourself enough to choose healthy actions over unhealthy actions. It truly is just as easy to choose the actions that will give you the outcome of health as it is to choose the action that will contribute to your dis-ease, both are actions, paths, however you will not be inspired to choose health when you are lacking in self-love.
These are just a few things that can get in the way of you allowing yourself to lose weight. If you were to simply eat only when hungry, stick mainly to whole foods, use portion control, replace all soda with water (and drink 8 glasses or 100 oz a day of pure water), and walk 20-30 minutes a day non-stop, then you would see results. These are choices though, choices that you can make today, or you can choose to continue making choices that keep you where you are or worsen your condition.
Love and Allow
When you love yourself and get out of your own way you can simply allow the fat to drop from your body, lose weight, and feel great. This is a process, not a magical quick-fix pill, however it’s a consciously fit way to get what you want, if you want to live in a healthy, toned, strong, sexy, feel-good body, that is… a body that maintains a healthy weight and is fun to live in.
Shine ON!! 🙂
Fear. Most of us are afraid of change. We’re afraid of what we may lose if we change our habits from the comfortable. You have to believe what you’re doing is right – for you.
I think the problem is TV. You watch all of htese commercials teling you that this is low fa, or part of a healthy diet, or low in calories, or will help you lose inches fast, and other hogwash. People choose to believe TV commercials instead of the truth.
And eating real food means that you actually have to prepare it yourself – even if it only takes a few minutes – it’s just too much ‘work’.
Don’t you agree?
brilliant post. The only way I really lost weight in my life was when I allowed myself too. It took a lot of visualizing and mental preparation. Truly believing in yourself is worth everything.. Thanks for a great read!

Hi Greg,
I agree, Fear is the biggie that so many people allow to hold them back. Funny thing is though, that fear Never Goes Away, no matter what you accomplish in life…. you do not have to allow it to hold you back from taking action though, and you can always make the conscious choice of love instead.
Hi Carol,
I agree that yes, it does take “work” to eat healthy and live a consciously fit lifestyle, and that it all comes down to what you want. If you want to feel great, look great, thrive and be fit, healthy, and sexy, then yep, there are actions you can take to get cha there, but it doesn’t have to feel like work….it can be fun and feel easy when you are in alignment with that body you wish to create (another topic) 🙂
Hi Ben,
Cool that you applied the process of visualization and that you understood and put the time into your mental prep, which is where most of this is at…in the head. When you can get yourself lined up and make that conscious decision to create the body you want, then it’s fun and simple!
Great tips and insight into weight loss. I too feel at times like I don’t get out of my head when trying to lose weight. Weight loss is a mental game.
