If you’re struggling to lose weight then you’re more than likely doing what the majority of folks who are struggling with emotional eating and overweight are doing: they keep looking for food tips and diet tricks that are supposed to make weight loss work for you. The problem with this route is that there’s a reason why no food diet has ever cured your emotional eating.
But why does this matter? Here’s why: because if you don’t cure your emotional eating you aren’t able to DO the healthy diet tips you’ve collected and stick with them long term. Why? Because the real problem hasn’t been fixed.
The real problem is not the food you’re eating. The food you’re eating is the tool you use to engage in your emotional eating habits. Sure, the type of food and quantity of food will have to change in order for you to achieve permanent weight loss. But making those changes before you’ve fixed The Real Problem is like hooking up a dog sled in front of the dog sled team. How can the dog sled team pull the sled when the sled is in front of them??
Putting the sled in front of the dogs only blocks the dog sled team from moving forward. They can’t even run when the sled is in front of them and then definitely can’t pull the sled.
Well that’s exactly the same thing you’re doing by collecting endless food diet and exercise tips to try to fix your overweight problem when you haven’t fixed the reason your body became overweight in the first place.
If you don’t cure your emotional eating then you’re putting your own sled in front of you. How will you ever get to the result of permanent weight loss like that?
You won’t. Plain and simple.
The only way TO get the results of permanent weight loss (which means you lose weight and keep it off the rest of your life) is by curing your emotional eating now. Heal the root of your emotional eating and then you’ll be able to DO the healthy diet tips and release the fat and keep it off. THEN you’ll have your healthy sled behind you, which is where it needs to be. You won’t be blocking yourself anymore from losing the fat and keeping it off.
