New Year Weight Loss with a Binge Eating Habit: Is It Possible to Still Lose Weight?

When you have such a habit of binge eating and no diet you’ve tried has fixed it, you can start to lose hope that you’ll ever be able to lose weight, much less stick with a New Year’s Resolution to lose weight.

So is it possible to lose weight if you can’t stop binge eating?

Well, binge eating is overeating and the body does not need fuel when your stomach is not hungry. A big problem for emotional eaters and binge eaters is that you don’t eat for physical hunger and in simple terms, excess fuel = excess weight because the body simply doesn’t need that extra fuel.

Believe it or not, your body is doing the right thing by storing all of that extra fuel for you, but what that comes down to is overweight and/or obesity which can really drag you down, not only physically but also mentally and emotionally.

Being overweight or obese just isn’t any fun. But is it possible to lose weight at the New Year when you have a binge eating habit?

Well the truth is it will be very hard if not impossible to lose weight while binge eating because you’re simply eating too much food. You can’t out-exercise bad eating habits either. But if you were to heal the root of what drives your binge eating, then you’d be free of these problems and the weight could come off.

If you’re Ok with a slow, long route, start by becoming more aware of what you’re thinking before you binge. This might be challenging because many binge eaters are also unconscious eaters but if you can begin to capture any of your thoughts that drive you to eat, that’s a good first step.
