Why Is It So EASY to GAIN Weight and So HARD to Lose It?
I’ve definitely had personal experience with easily gaining weight. and then having a hard time losing it. I know how frustrating that can be! But what most people don’t realize is that there’s more to the game of weight loss than just what you’re eating and how you’re exercising. The biggest piece of this puzzle is your mindset. If you don’t have the right mindset and your mindset is fat, then weight loss will always be a struggle. If instead you get a weight loss mindset, then you’ll have 92.8% of the challenge solved right there!
Successful weight loss is mainly about your mindset. You must master the inner game of weight loss in order to win the outer game of weight loss. Weight loss is first won or lost in the MIND. If you don’t win the game in your mind first, then you won’t win the game of weight loss on your hips.

6 Reasons It’s So EASY to GAIN Weight and So HARD to Lose It
Let’s take a look at 6 reasons it’s so easy to gain weight and so hard to lose it. I’ll break them down into lists of three to make them easier to read. As you’ll see, these reasons are interchangeable too, meaning that all six reasons can really make it easy to gain weight and also hard to lose it.
Ack! I know it’s frustrating, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s the problems you put in your own way that make it hard to lose weight. The good news is that 92.8% of that problem is your mindset. It’s your beliefs, thought patterns, and emotional patterns of habit that create a mindset that either makes it really easy to live a fit, healthy lifestyle, or that mindset makes it easy to live an unhealthy lifestyle. Now let’s take a look at the 6 reasons it’s so easy to gain weight and so hard to lose it!
Why Is it So EASY to GAIN Weight?
- Processed food. Eating processed foods high in sugar, sodium and other icky ingredients like HFCS and MSG make it really easy for the human body to gain weight. Why? Because that stuff in today’s processed food supply is not meant to be ingested in the body without gunking up its system! This is why eating clean is an easy way to lose weight.
- Emotional Eating. If you’re an emotional eater and you haven’t gotten the coaching you need to heal the root of that problem, then it doesn’t matter how many food diets you do to lose weight. That emotional eating problem is always lurking, ready to jump back out and make it super easy to gain weight. After all, when you can’t stop eating because of emotional eating or even because of binge eating, doesn’t it make sense that this will make it super easy to gain weight?
- Slow Metabolism. If you’ve been on lots of diets, long term dieting and yo-yo dieting can bring your metabolism to a screeching halt. With an already slow metabolism if you also binge eat, compulsively overeat, and/or emotionally eat, AND you’re eating processed foods, then it’s very easy to gain weight. A slow metabolism simply won’t process that excess food before storing it as fat. It doesn’t stand a chance!
What about the second part of the question? What makes it so HARD to lose the weight?
What Makes It So HARD to Lose the Weight?
- It’s not hard to lose weight if you eat clean. It’s actually not hard to lose weight if you switch to a healthy lifestyle of clean eating. This is the opposite of living a lifestyle filled with processed foods. On the flip side, what makes it hard to lose the weight is continuing to eat a diet filled with processed foods. Make sense?
- You have to stay consistent. If you aren’t consistent with your healthy, clean eating, cardio and strength training, then it will be hard to lose weight. The thing is, it can take a whole 12 weeks to see significant change in your body and you won’t see those changes in your body if you don’t stay consistent. Consistency is key otherwise it will be hard to lose weight.
