If You Just Can’t Lose Weight, Ask Yourself These 3 QuestionsBlack and white photo woman with text
“I can’t lose weight” is a very common statement for many emotional eaters, binge eaters, and sugar addicts. What makes it even more frustrating though, is when you’re a smart, successful woman who’s doing great in your life except when it comes to the topic of your eating and your weight. Even more frustrating is when you really do know what to do to lose weight, but you just can’t get yourself to do it.

When You Feel Like You Just Can’t Lose Weight

When you feel stuck, stuck in the same old patterns of eating, sneak eating in the corner of the kitchen, not wanting anyone else to know how much you’re really eating or know what you’re eating, after so many years of struggling you really can get into a rut where you honestly feel like you just can’t lose weight.

But here’s the struggle: you don’t want to give up. You DO WANT to lose weight. You really do want to stop being a slave to your cravings, stop being dependent on sugar, stop overeating, stop emotional eating, stop binge eating, and really break free. Break free into a place where you can eat normally, eat only one cookie instead of the whole darned box, and feel great about yourself again.

There wouldn’t be any struggle with this if you didn’t care anymore, if you just were to give in to your overeating and “go all in” on your sugar addiction, just decide that you “don’t care anymore” and give in to the frump.

Because you’re reading these words right now, this is proof that you have NOT given up. This is good news! But it’s not enough in order to get yourself new results. You’ll want to make fundamental shifts in order to lose weight for good and finally succeed in this one area of your life that you have not been able to succeed with up until now.

While I can’t promise that just by reading this article all of your emotional eating and more problems with food and your weight will be solved, I can help you get a start by offering you three questions to ask yourself when you feel like you just can’t lose weight.

Let’s take a look now.

If You Just Can’t Lose Weight, Ask Yourself These 3 Questions

To get the most out of the 3 questions I’m giving you below, grab pen and paper now.

Write each question pen on paper and then journal your answers to each.

Be completely honest with yourself, you don’t need to show this to anyone although it would help you greatly to share this exercise with your permanent weight loss coach (if you are working with a professional coach who is helping you make fundamental shifts to your mindset, which is 92.8% of the challenge if you want to finally succeed with your weight).

Question One:

Who Says that You Can’t Lose Weight?

Write this question on your paper and then write out all of the answers that come to you.

If the only answer you get is “Myself!” that’s Ok but if there are others telling you that you can’t lose weight, write all of their names down. I will give you further instructions below but to get the most out of this, don’t read ahead, just complete each of these 3 writing exercises for yourself first.

Question Two:

Would you rather be Right or would you rather be Happy?

Answer this honestly pen on paper after your write the question out.

Question Three:

What are the specific steps you are completing daily to shift your head into a weight loss mindset?

Write this third question pen on paper next and then list out all of the specific steps you are currently completing daily to get a weight loss mindset.

Also write out the results you are getting from the daily action steps you are completing to get a weight loss mindset, including mental, emotional, and physical changes.

NOTE: If you aren’t doing anything currently to get a weight loss mindset then answer the question honestly pen on paper and then journal about all of the changes you expect you could make and all of the results you expect you could get with your eating and your weight loss if you really could get a weight loss mindset.

If you aren’t sure what a weight loss mindset is, then keep it simple and imagine if you could believe in yourself and have a positive attitude about healthy eating and exercise and a positive attitude about yourself, then journal out what you expect could change for you then.

After Completing the 3 Questions Writing Exercises Above…

After completing the writing exercises above, now let’s go over each one:

Question One:

Who Says that You Can’t Lose Weight?

What did you write on your paper?

If your only answer is “Myself!” this is a good thing because YOU are the only one in this life you have the power to change. You cannot change other people and it’s not your job to try.

But you might have listed other people on your paper, other people who tell you that you can’t lose weight. If this is the case, you might want to find some new people to hang out with. It’s hard enough to fight with your own negative thinking but to have others telling you that you can’t do something, I would think that’s going to be very difficult to be around.

Find positive, uplifting support, and if you have a professional coach in your corner, her support can help also but keep in mind that surrounding yourself with positive input will help you boost yourself quicker in order to live a healthy lifestyle and get to your goal weight. Another factor to keep in mind is accountability, which is something to seek from a professional coach. Family members and friends won’t want to hold you accountable out of fear of harming their relationship with you, but you have to be fully committed to yourself first and foremost. If you’re not committed to YOU then you won’t have a leg to stand on.

Question Two:

Would you rather be Right or would you rather be Happy?

What answer did you write on your paper?

If you wrote you would rather be wrong and be happy, this is great! You have potential to change.

If you wrote you would rather be right, this is very common, this is how the majority get stuck. You see, most are more committed to being right about their beliefs, even if their beliefs are stopping them, holding them back, and keeping them fat (not good!) but they want to be right about their beliefs like, “I can’t lose weight” and “Nothing works for me” and “Only They can lose weight, I can’t, it’s too hard”. Each of these negative beliefs are extremely limiting if you want to lose weight but if you want to be right then you will guarantee to prove how right you are in your beliefs (and you won’t lose weight as a result).

This is a tough place to be in, especially when you’re not conscious of what you’re doing to yourself. It’s possible to change though, if you want to. You could make a new decision and decide it’s more important for you to learn how to be happy and therefore be willing to let the old baggage of limiting beliefs go.

You can make a new decision if you want to, and especially if you really want to lose weight!

Question Three:

What are the specific steps you are completing daily to shift your head into a weight loss mindset?

What did you write on your paper in response to this question?

If you listed out several daily action steps you are completing to get a weight loss mindset, how are they working for you? What are the results you’re getting? Go ahead and write out these details now.

If however, you did not have anything to write to answer this question because you don’t have a plan to change your mind so that you can change your body with ease, then what did you write on your paper about all of the positive, healthy expectations you have about what could change for you if you were to get a weight loss mindset?

Does it make sense that your mind leads your body? For example, if you believe you don’t have time to cook and prep your meals in advance, but you have time to watch hours of reality TV every night, that this is one simple example of another limiting belief that is stopping you from losing weight and feeling great?

How good would you feel if you could get out of your own way and get that weight off?

How to Get the Fastest Results to Lose Weight Now

If you want to get the fastest results to lose weight now, the fastest way to get out of where you are right now and get into the place where you are actively making progress with your weight is by getting coached.

Have you heard of weight loss coaching before? I don’t mean “coaching” as in using an app on your phone. No, that is not real coaching. I mean coaching with a professional coach right over the phone, in real time, speaking with your coach and then in-between those times, taking action with specific steps your coach gives you to work on.

The most important steps to work on are the proven steps that Change Your Mind.

Why would you want to change your mind if what you really want is results with your body? After all, you want to lose weight, so why would you want to focus on changing your mindset, right?

Here’s why: your mind leads your body so if you’re stuck in “fat thinking” then your eating behaviors will match up with that and then you’ll get the results on the scale that will match. Here’s an example:

If you believe that you can’t control your eating, then your eating will be out-of-control because that’s a match.

Now don’t be fooled, it’s not as easy as telling yourself “I’m in control of my eating” and then all of your unhealthy emotional eating, binge eating, and nighttime sneak eating totally disappear. No, this is not an instant fix. But if you release limiting beliefs and replace those with healthy empowering beliefs, then over time you can get control of your eating.

All of this can be done with coaching if you work with the right coach. All coaches are not created equal 😉 it’s just a fact.
