Visualization is a powerful tool that can be used to help keep your motivation level high while losing weight. Not only does it help with your motivation, but also it gets your mind in sync with your body. This is vital since the mind and the body are not separate entities as you might think, but are instead connected. The mind rules the body.
Today I found a post on weight loss motivation by Brian at “Lose Weight With Me“. In it he mentions the fact that it is very helpful to cut out a magazine picture of the type of body that you are aiming for in order to gain clarity in your weight loss and fitness goals.
Brian also points out the fun technique of taking a picture of your head and placing it on the body. This can be extremely helpful when employing visualization. You could even take this a step further and Photoshop your head onto an image. I have played around with this myself, and it’s really quite neat because you are looking at your face on your ideal body; of course, I picked out a model wearing a bikini, but you can pick out a model in a suit if you want. 🙂 If you would like to try this yourself, check out this tutorial.
Whether you cut and paste with paper or digitally, you will be helping your mind to shift and begin working to bring you that which you are visualizing, which in this case, is a new, healthy body. You would want to focus on your image at least once a day in order to imprint it in your mind, and it would be most effective to do so upon waking and right before bed in the evening. As Dr. Wayne Dyer said, You’ll See It When You Believe It.
If you try this, please leave a comment to share how it helped you with your motivation. Have fun!
