Ozempic for Weight Loss: What Smart Savvy Women Need to Know About This Trending Solution
We’ve gotta talk about Ozempic for weight loss because smart, savvy women need to know about this trending solution and whether or not it really is a solution (??), or not. Because let’s get real: there are all kinds of ways to lose weight, to make the scale move, and to get a temporary fix for a much deeper problem.
You can do a cleanse and see the scale move, but the reason the scale goes down is because you’ve lost poop (for real!) but that “weight” easily comes back fast.
You can get weight loss surgery to shrink your stomach but when the root of your binge eating hasn’t been healed, it’s easy to stretch your remaining stomach back out, and regain any weight you might have lost.
You can use other weight loss shots besides Ozempic but when your emotional eating triggers have not been addresses, then as soon as you cease using the shots, we all know what happens next.
And now there’s the latest weight loss trend, the Ozempic craze or as some call it, Ozempi. But just like any of the other tricks, if it does work to make the scale go down, what happens as soon as you stop taking it? How willing are you to continue paralyzing your digestive process with shots for the rest of your life? (eek!)
Let’s take a closer look at the topic of Ozempic for weight loss and look at a few more details about the topic.
Ozempic for Weight Loss: What Smart, Savvy Women Need to Know About This Trending Solution
In recent years, weight loss drugs like Ozempic (semaglutide) have made headlines for their impressive weight loss results. This is not something that I was aware of right away because I’m all about natural weight loss, eating clean, and going to the root of the problem for a transformation that lasts.
Originally designed to manage type 2 diabetes, this injectable drug Ozempic, has found a new audience among those looking to lose weight quickly. While it’s touted that you lose weight by using Ozempic along with diet and exercise changes, 99% of use Ozempic shots do so because they are unable to change their behaviors since the only way they have attempted was with band-aids for the symptoms that do not address the root of the problem. You see, your overweight is just a symptom of the real problems, which diets cannot address.
Mindset is 92.8% of the problem when it comes to overeating and overweight. What you think and believe is what you will BE. But diets and weight loss drugs don’t do anything to affect a change where the change is needed, which only leads to a neverending cycle of short term weight loss followed by weight gain rinse and repeat. Even Ozempic weight loss is short term, unless you are willing to inject yourself for the rest of your life.
Side note: Why is it that the country that manufactures Ozempic to sell to Americans restricts the sale of this weight loss drug to their own country’s citizens??
While the buzz around Ozempic for weight loss in the news and in Hollywood is undeniable, it’s essential to look beyond the hype and understand the long-term implications of using medications for weight loss.
Natural, sustainable weight loss proves to be the most effective strategy for maintaining a healthy weight long term without the worry of possible side-effects that aren’t fully known yet. Not only that but there’s no way to put a price on the value of self-confidence, self-esteem, and self-empowerment that are ingredients of successful, natural weight loss.
For now, let’s keep going with the topic at hand and look at why relying solely on weight loss drugs like Ozempic does not address the root causes of weight gain, and why tackling these underlying issues can lead to lifelong success.
What is Ozempic, and How Does It Work?
Ozempic is an injectable medication that mimics a hormone called GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1). This hormone helps regulate blood sugar levels and suppresses appetite by slowing digestion and increasing feelings of fullness. The results can be dramatic, with some studies reporting average weight losses of 10-15% of body weight.
Another side note: I’ve had coaching clients who did try using GLP-1 in the past and even that did not help to cure their binge eating, emotional eating, and compulsive overeating, because it did not address the emotional and mental weight that you need to release if you really want to release the physical weight for good. But I’ve also had coaching clients who had had weight loss surgery in the past too, and that didn’t help either, for the same reasons.
While these numbers are promising, Ozempic is not a magic bullet. The weight loss drug (shot) must be taken consistently, often for an indefinite period, to maintain results. Stopping Ozempic can lead to a return of any weight you lost because it doesn’t address the habits and behaviors that caused weight gain in the first place.
Additionally, most seem to forget that binge eating, emotional eating, comfort eating and compulsive overeating have nothing to do with physical hunger. So while the weight loss drug Ozempic slows your digestive process (think of it like freezing your stomach…. eek!!) so that you’re not hungry as often… what difference does it make if you’re not as hungry when the overeating behaviors that led to your overweight or obesity are not about physical hunger.
To truly break free, the underlying triggers, anxieties, worries, emotional connection to food, food stories, food history, and especially your mindset about food and weight loss must change if you really want to gain freedom from a lifetime of food and weight struggles.
If you only want a quick fix, if you don’t want to “think about it”, if you do not have an interest in healing your emotional connection and relationship with food, then I should have said this sooner: You don’t need this article. Just keep taking the shots of Ozempic and you don’t need to read this article. 😉
Otherwise, taking a weight loss drug can make the scale go down but how does it solve what has been driving your overeating all along since it’s not even about physical hunger?
Add onto that the possible, potential health effects of Ozempic for weight loss, which have not been studied long term (everyone who’s taking it now are the experiments…)
The Hidden Costs of Weight Loss Quick Fixes
1. Temporary Results: Weight loss drugs like Ozempic may suppress appetite, but they don’t teach you how to make healthier food choices, manage stress eating, or address emotional triggers that drive emotional eating, binge eating, comfort eating and more.
As you can imagine if you’ve ever taken any diet pills, weight loss drugs or other such quick fixes for weight loss in the past, once you stop taking it, the weight comes back so fast, it practically gives you whip lash (true!).
2. Side Effects: Common side effects of Ozempic include nausea, diarrhea, and constipation. In rare cases, it has been linked to more severe conditions like pancreatitis or gallbladder problems. These risks make it essential to weigh the pros and cons carefully and ask yourself if your long term health is more valuable than short term weight loss, especially if you’re not committed to using Ozempic shots for the rest of your life.
3. Dependency: Relying on a weight loss drug to manage your weight can create a sense of dependency, undermining confidence in your ability to achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle naturally. This right here is a problem that gets the least airtime of all and it’s actually the most debilitating because one of the biggest problems all of my weight loss mindset coaching clients have shared when they first come to me, is a lack of belief in themselves that they really can change and they really can lose weight successfully.
The more you rely on external crutches to give you the weight loss results you seek, the less and less confidence you have in your ability to change your habits and gain control of your mind and your body. Additionally, weight loss drugs do nothing to change your mindset, which is 92.8% of what determines how successful you will be with your weight loss goals. Without the right mindset you’re not even in the game. Do you really want to set aside your own potential to step into your own power, change your mindset, and become your best self ever and relinquish all of that potential to instead rely on a weight loss drug?
Even just writing this, it feels so empty to me. But of course you must make your own decisions for your life and your body.
Moving on… let’s take a look at some specific points for WHY natural weight loss is the way to go.
The Case for Natural, Sustainable Weight Loss (say what?!)
1. Behavioral Change is Key
Addressing the behaviors and thought patterns that contribute to weight gain is critical for long-term success. Emotional eating, binge eating, and yo-yo dieting are often rooted in stress, anxiety, or past traumas. Without tackling these issues, no medication, weight loss drug, or quick fix can provide a permanent solution.
2. Empowerment Through Lifestyle Changes
Learning how to balance nutritious eating with enjoyable movement helps create habits that last. Small, consistent changes, like mindful eating and planning meals, build a foundation for lasting success.
Don’t expect to make sweeping changes all in one go, like on January 1st. Instead, start out with a specific plan of steps that work, choose 3 to begin with, and get going now. To lose weight and keep it off it cannot be a quick fix, superficial change, or even a drug: it must be a lifestyle change and your inner self is 92.8% of it.
3. Improved Overall Health
Natural weight loss strategies don’t just reduce the number on the scale; they also improve overall well-being, including mental health, energy levels, and quality of sleep.
4. Freedom from Side Effects
Unlike medications, natural weight loss strategies are free from the risk of unpleasant, unknown/untested, or harmful side effects. They allow you to listen to your body and respond in ways that align with your unique needs.
Breaking Free from the Cycle of Emotional Eating
For many women, the struggle to lose weight isn’t just about food, it’s about emotions. Whether it’s stress at work, relationship challenges, or unresolved traumas, food often becomes a source of comfort. This is where natural weight loss programs shine. They focus on developing emotional resilience, setting boundaries, and creating healthier coping mechanisms.
By addressing the root causes of overeating, you can escape the frustrating cycle of yo-yo dieting and find freedom in a balanced relationship with food. With the right tools and proven system, you can empower yourself to break free of the struggle and step into the driver’s seat of your own weight loss journey instead of relying on something outside of yourself, like a weight loss drug, which creates a dependence because if you stop using it, what will happen?
