Daily Weight Loss Motivation Day Eight | JoLynn BraleyWhen you’re lacking the weight loss motivation you desperately need in order to get moving and get the weight off, something that most never consider is how negative their mindset is. They are focused so heavily on thoughts of “how hard it is to lose weight” that their motivation to lose weight never actually gets a chance to get going.

Another negative thought that will sap your weight loss motivation into non-existence is the thought “weight loss is torture, it isn’t any fun at all, I hate it!”. Well thinking like this, doesn’t it make sense that you’ll never get motivated to lose weight? Of course not. And hey, I’ve been there before, I was thinking very negatively myself, but those fat thoughts only drove me to more fat behaviors like emotional eating, binge eating, and unhealthy food choices, none of which gave me any weight loss, or any weight loss motivation.

It all starts with a thought though, and most who are struggling to lose weight do not realize this. They are focused only on food diet plans and while you do need to change your eating habits to lose weight, have you ever wondered why aren’t you doing it? I know, you’re saying, “because I don’t have any motivation to lose weight JoLynn!” but why don’t you have the weight loss motivation required to get moving and lose weight?

It’s because of your thinking. This is good news because your thinking is something you can change faster than your weight!

Daily Weight Loss Motivation: Accept That Weight Loss Won’t Always Be Exciting [Day Eight]

A good place to start in changing your thinking is with the thought that “weight loss is torture” and just plain miserable to endure. What if instead you accept that weight loss won’t always be exciting but this does not mean it is torture. The only reason weight loss would feel like torture is because you have not made peace with the fact that you must make changes to your eating habits and lifestyle behaviors in order to get the weight off and keep it off.

It simply does not work to expect weight loss to work without making the necessary changes that must be made. This however, is what most people want! They want the weight loss but they refuse to make the necessary changes to get it. And then they complain that weight loss is too hard, that weight loss takes too long, and that they can’t lose weight because they don’t have the weight loss motivation they desperately need in order to get going, and keep moving.

Well, what will change unless you make changes? I’ve been in that place before where I wanted magical changes also, but you must put in the consistent action in order to get the results. Deluding yourself with thoughts of “I should be able to eat whenever I want, whatever I want, and how much I want AND I should still lose weight!” is a sure-fire way to a) set yourself up for failure and b) ensure that you won’t feel motivated to lose weight, because you know in your heart that you’re not going to succeed by traveling the path that you’re on.

Why would anyone feel motivated to lose weight when they expect they won’t lose weight? And the reason they expect they won’t lose weight is because they know they aren’t making any real changes to their eating or lifestyle behaviors. They might continue to wish hope and pray for a miracle but when they get completely honest with themselves, they know it’s not possible to lose weight with they way they continue to eat.

To Sum Up

There are many negative thoughts that swirl in the mind when one has not done the steps to get a weight loss mindset. These negative thoughts, limiting beliefs, and negative thought patterns won’t give you any weight loss motivation. Instead they will sap your motivation to zero.

One of the thoughts that holds back many is the thought that weight loss is torture, which isn’t true unless you make it true. The only “torture” involved in weight loss is all in the way you think about weight loss. If you truly believe weight loss is torture then you’ll make it so.

While this thought is clearly going to sap any weight loss motivation out of you, to try to flip the switch to the thought “weight loss is fun and easy” just isn’t going to work. It’s too big of a jump.

Instead, start with accepting that weight loss won’t always be exciting, which is true, it won’t. You must stick with your healthy eating behaviors and new healthy lifestyle consistently, meal after meal, in order to see results over time. If you make peace with the fact that weight loss won’t always be exciting then you can get down to the business of taking action to get that weight off. Remember, you must get into action mode in order to get results.

In my personal experience, the longer I waited for weight loss motivation to appear, the longer I struggled. Go back to the counter-intuitive way to get motivated to lose weight, which I covered on Day One of this exclusive daily weight loss motivation series.
