Have you ever considered that weight loss motivation will continue to allude you unless you do the math and set clear, concise goals for yourself? Most people don’t so if you’ve never thought about this, you’re not the only one!
What about this then:
Have you ever stopped yourself from taking the first steps to lose weight because of the negative thought it will take too long for me to lose weight? This is a much more common thought, that you likely think and then stop yourself from taking action to lose weight. This thought will zap any weight loss motivation you could have found as well!
So…. if you answered NO to the former and YES to the latter then you’re in the majority, just like the millions upon millions who are struggling right now with overweight, obesity, overeating, a lack of motivation, and poor food choices.
What if you do something different and do the math in order to get moving and find the weight loss motivation you seek while you are taking action to move forward?
Daily Weight Loss Motivation: Do The Math [Day Two]
Here’s exactly what I mean about doing the math, and why this will combat the thought of “it will take too long for me to lose weight”.
Let’s say you’re 50 pounds overweight. That 50 pounds can feel like a mountain and without a weight loss mindset you’re likely going to take the path of:
- It will take me too long to lose weight
- Therefore I’ll eat this half gallon of ice cream now
- It doesn’t matter because I’m already overweight
- Wow, I have no motivation to lose weight, just look at me, geesh!
- I’m going to eat more ice cream because I can, and it’s here, and I’m 50 pounds overweight anyway
…and the hole of No Weight Loss Motivation gets deeper and deeper.
What no one is thinking about is this fact: yes, it should take you approximately 6 months to shed 50 pounds. but you don’t WAIT for 6 months while you’re still 50 pounds that entire time, and then suddenly 6 months from now, you’re 50 pounds lighter.
It doesn’t work like that, but THIS is how the majority think when they think the thought “It will take me forever to lose weight, 6 months is too long!”. They are not factoring in the fact that if you’re dropping 2 pounds every week, then 4 weeks from now you’re not 50 pounds overweight, you’ll be 42 pounds overweight.
And in another month if you continue consistently (consistency meal after meal is easy when you have the right mindset for it) then you’ll be 34 pounds overweight.
It’s NOT that “it’s going to take 6 months for me to lose weight, that’s forever!!” because you don’t go from being 50 pounds overweight to 50 pounds lighter overnight.
What Does This Have to Do with Weight Loss Motivation
Here’s what this has to do with your weight loss motivation:
If you’re thinking “It will take too long for me to lose weight” then WHY would you feel motivated to take action and get started? That thought right there is sabotaging you, and you are doing the sabotaging by continuing to think that thought.
What if you stop thinking that thought? Although the problem with this question is that whatever you focus upon expands, so the moment you say “I’m not going to think this thought anymore” now all of your attention is on that thought and you’ll dig a deeper hole of resistance for yourself.
Instead you must find a new thought and think that thought instead. If you want help to do that because you don’t have a complete system put together to transform your mind the way you need to then click here for your first step!
Do The Math
Here’s a simple online calculator you can use which may help with your weight loss motivation if you can see for yourself exactly the date when you may be at your goal weight.
First you’ll need to calculate how many weeks it will take for you to get to your goal weight.
For example, 50 pounds divided by 2 = 25 weeks. There’s no guarantee you will drop 2 pounds every week of course and if you want to be conservative, you already know that dropping one pound per week could put you at your goal weight in 50 weeks. This assumes that you will keep going meal after meal after meal after meal without any self-sabotage or nighttime cheat eating.
No weekend binges or anything like that. This will not be difficult to do if you have the right mindset for it as your mind is 92.8% of what makes weight loss successful, or it makes you feel zero motivation to lose weight.
With that being said, when you use the simple online calculator and if you are 100% confident you will drop 2 pounds per week then plugging in the 25 weeks into the online calculator gives you the date of March 25 2020 that you shall be at your goal weight, assuming you are on track today October 02 2019 with your weight loss mindset and healthy eating plan.
What most don’t see though, is what I wrote above: just because March 25 2020 would be the date you would reach your goal weight (assuming every piece of the puzzle is in place of course) then you’d be smaller and lighter with each day that passes.
Therefore it is not true that “it will take me forever to lose weight” because as you continue to take consistent action day by day, meal after meal, you will become smaller and smaller!
