I understand because I used to do that too, but it only made me more despondent, more overweight, and even more stuck while lacking the motivation to lose weight.

But what is focus?

Focus is what you think about, what you obsess about, what you worry about, what you talk about, what you look at, what you complain about, what you watch, and what you feel.

If you want to increase your weight loss motivation you’ll want to start paying attention to what you are focusing on. If you mainly focus on hating your body, hating your weight, and hating the idea of changing your eating habits, then you won’t just stop yourself from getting motivated to lose weight, but you’ll also increase your level of self-loathing, which will in turn increase your emotional eating, binge eating, and out-of-control food choices.

It’s Universal Law

One of the Universal Laws we all live under is that whatever you focus upon expands. It gets bigger.

Focus on your overweight, and it won’t go away. The problem will get bigger.

Focus on your fears of missing out on your Twinkies, ice cream, chips and dip, and your fears of missing out will grow, as you continue to struggle to lose weight. Weight loss motivation will continue to allude you if you focus on the wrong things.

Focus instead on healthy foods you like to eat and weight loss can actually become easy and fun. This probably sounds impossible to you but this is only because you do not have the right mindset.

The good news is you can change your mindset and you can change your focus, if you are willing to. There’s no magic for this, you must take action, and it helps to have a proven step-by-step system laid out in front of you. Then all you need to do is follow the steps!

Instead of worrying about all the sugary, salty, processed foods you’re afraid to miss out on, why not change your focus to all of the healthy foods you like to eat? Get excited about healthy recipes, do something different, begin looking forward to fruit as your dessert.

I look forward to one cold, red delicious apple each day that I eat as part of my pre-workout meal. I love it! But this hasn’t always been the case.

In the past when I’ve been eating processed foods I had no desire for that apple. I also had no motivation to lose weight.

The highly processed foods had me in their grips, full of addiction to them so that I kept buying them and kept eating more. More ice cream, more chips, more ice cream bars, more crackers, more cookies, more Cheetos, Doritos, and Diet Coke and… pretzels, cakes, spaghetti, garlic toast, frozen dinners, cupcakes…. the list is endless, just like my lack of weight loss motivation was endless (until I did something about it).

I had to change my mindset and I had to change my eating, but it is a ton easier to change your eating when you have the right mindset for it.
