When you’ve been trying a lifetime to get control of your eating so that you can lose weight for good, it can be very difficult to stick with it, I understand. But I’m here today to encourage you to never give up on your weight loss dream. Just because you haven’t had success with it yet, does not mean you cannot achieve success and break free of this problem!
Never Give Up on Your Weight Loss Dream!
Please do not give up on your weight loss dream. Many smart, spiritual women give up too soon, when successful weight loss could be had, and when I say successful weight loss I don’t mean only seeing your goal weight on the scale.
Let’s get real: there are several ways to get to your goal weight by unhealthy methods, unnatural methods that invariably come back and bit you in the butt. Yes! They come back to haunt you with aggressive and fast weight regain as soon as you stop the shots, stop taking the pills, and even weight loss surgery isn’t a lasting fix.
Statistics state that only 5% of those who get weight loss surgery succeed long term. This makes sense because so many are looking for that quick fix, but the quick fix never addresses what drove your weight gain in the first place.
3 Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Give Up
So here’s the thing: I strongly suggest you do not give up on your weight loss dream. I suggest that before you even consider giving up, you ask yourself the following three questions. Grab pen and paper and get started below to gain clarity and focus:
1.) What exactly is my weight loss dream? Define the details of your weight loss dream.
Write all of it out pen on paper. Hopefully you are interested in becoming strong, healthy, and fit, and have no interest in crazy fad diets, crazy shots, pills, or other unnatural short cuts which never address the real problems that drive your overeating.
So define specifically what your end goal is (I hope you want to Keep the Weight Off!) and what your ideal relationship with food would be if you were living it right now.
2.) What exactly have I done to achieve my weight loss dream? Write this all out pen on paper:
What specifically have you done to lose weight and keep it off?
What have you done to heal your relationship with food? What are the specific steps you’ve taken to heal your emotional eating, binge eating, and yo-yo dieting?
Who is your mind-body weight loss coach and how well have you followed your coach’s instructions?
What is your specific track record with consistent healthy action, not only with diet and exercise but also for your mindset?
3.) What are all of things I have not done to achieve my weight loss dream? This is the critical section of questioning you’ll want to be sure and complete because this is where you can turn yourself around to ensure you do not quit and give up on your weight loss dream.
Why is this so? Because if you’ve never addressed the root of your overeating and the root of your eating, exercise and lifestyle choices, then you haven’t addressed the real problems getting in the way of you reaching your goal weight and maintaining it for life.
Keep going pen on paper with this third section and make a list of all of things you have not done yet to help yourself achieve your dream of losing weight for good.
A problem however, to be aware of, is that you can’t know what you don’t know. This is a catch-22 and it might be the biggest issue that has held you back up until this point.
As I’m writing this I’m remembering one of my coaching clients when I asked her why she hadn’t had any coaching before she met me. Her reply was simply “I wasn’t aware there was such a thing as coaching to help me”. This is true for many smart spiritual women who have been trying to “go it alone” and have gotten very close to “giving in to the frump”. That’s when you just say “To heck with it! I’m not going to try anymore!” but this is the place I am strongly encouraging you NOT to go to.
And so the big question is, who is your coach? Who is your weight loss mindset coach? Because you see… mindset is 92.8% of the problem if you’ve been struggling a lifetime to get that weight off and keep it off. It’s your mind that leads your body and if you want to change your body by losing weight and shaping up, then the best place to start is with your mind.
Change Your Mind to Change Your Body
If you are serious about truly and finally succeeding with transforming your eating and your weight then go within.
Go within to start with your thinking, to change your mind to change your body. Change how you think about weight loss to make weight loss easier. Change how you believe about food and your weight loss journey to make weight loss a snap.
This is the real work, this is 92.8% of successful weight loss. 7.2% is about the physical side of a weight loss journey: diet and exercise.
If you succeed in getting your mind right, then your body will follow and it won’t be a big struggle to live a healthy lifestyle and get to your goal weight.
