Depending on how much weight you want to lose, weight loss can feel very overwhelming. Heck, even if you are only 20 pounds from your goal weight, weight loss can feel overwhelming due to the rampant addiction to instant gratification most are suffering from nowadays.
The fact is, weight loss is not instant (unless something has gone terribly horribly wrong) so you should not wish for it. But the big problem is if you stay stuck in a feeling of weight loss overwhelm then what happens?
What happens is you don’t take action and therefore, you don’t get results. Well… you might take action but not the kind of action you must take in order to reach your ultimate goal weight. 😉
3 Simple Steps to Avoid Weight Loss Overwhelm
So then, what are these 3 simple steps to avoid weight loss overwhelm? Let’s take a look! To avoid weight loss overwhelm, do this first:
1.) Clarify your weight loss vision
The first step to avoid weight loss overwhelm is to clarify your vision. So the question is, what exactly do you want?
Grab pen and paper and write it all out. Write down how much you want to weigh, what size jeans you’ll wear, how you’ll feel about yourself once you accomplish your goal and how you’ll feel in your own skin.
Write pen on paper all of the details of what you really want even if you don’t believe you can have it or don’t know how to do it. Just clarify your vision for what you really really want.
Also include what your relationship with food will be and how you want to feel about changing your eating habits. Keep in mind that to be fully successful with your weight loss journey, you’ll want to transform your vision along with your mindset about the entire topic. Mindset is 92.8% of what determines how successful you’ll be in losing weight for good.
2.) Write Out Your Weight Loss Plan
Now that you’ve clarified your vision in the step one, now write pen on paper the steps of your weight loss plan. Write it all out including your meal and exercise plan, and how you’re going to incorporate all of it as a lifestyle.
Short term diets yield short term results. If you really want to succeed with your weight management goals then your weight loss plan must be a lifestyle shift for you, so go ahead and write it all out pen on paper. Don’t worry if you feel weight loss overwhelm while you’re writing this out, in the next step we’ll get in action to chip away at that.
3.) What Is the FIRST Step? Do It Now
Now that you’ve clarified exactly what you want, and you’ve written out the details of your weight loss plan, the next step to avoid weight loss overwhelm is to identify Just The First Step you need to take. This is a step of your weight loss plan you detailed in #2 that will move you towards your vision you clarified in #1.
So what is the first step you can take right now? It doesn’t have to be a big step, it just needs to be an action step that will move you forward.
To avoid weight loss overwhelm simply identify that first step and then DO IT. Do it now if you can, or at the very least Do It Today.
Do NOT wait, do not delay. If you wait on your weight you are moving away from your vision you clarified in #1, can you see this? So don’t do that to yourself, your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to complete that first action now, today, just do it.
After you complete the first step then identify the second step and Do That. In other words, you only need to take One Step At A Time and as long as each step is a step of your weight loss plan in #2 which is leading you towards your weight loss vision in #1, then you are doing all that you can do!
