I’m going to make an assumption that you lead just as busy a life as I do, and maybe even busier! However, my question for you today is, “where does your health and fitness rank on your to-do list”?
I’m no stranger to feeling overwhelmed and for about the last month or so, I’ve been feeling very overwhelmed. I had a trip to get ready for, I needed to move my site to another hosting company, I was working on changing my blog theme, and still had a ton of other things to do.
Now the trip is over, I’m back home (have been back for over a week), and I’m feeling the aftermath of just that one week away. I still have a ton to do, I’m also working on healing my emotional eating, and oh yeah, what’s a driving theme behind Fearless Fat Loss? Weight loss, fitness, and healthy eating!
Sure, I’m going about this topic in a different manner instead of simply recommending a bunch of diets and exercise routines to you, which is because in my experience the process of weight loss, motivation, and exercise (the whole ball-o-wax!), goes a little deeper than that. However, when you put aside the approach I use to weight loss, this is still about weight loss and fitness and if I’m not putting my own health and fitness first on my list, I’m not going to be very useful to you, am I?
What’s happened is that I got out of my routine while I was away. That’s fine, it’s over and done with, but I see that over the past week I haven’t snapped back into my normal routine, and this needs to change today. If I’m not focusing on getting this weight off, on staying sugar-free, on increasing my cardio endurance and muscle strength, then I’m not:
- Living at my full potential
- Feeling an abundance of energy
- Inspired towards creativity
- Inspired to blog about living a healthy lifestyle in body, mind, and spirit
- Productive and focused
- Living on purpose
You see everything is connected, and in my experience everything starts with your health. If you don’t feel good, that feeling of dis-ease permeates every other part of your life. If you’re overweight, unhealthy, and unfit, that feeling of dis-ease affects your productivity, purpose, and feeling of joy for everyday life. The point is that I need to immediately rearrange my priorities to put my health and fitness back on the top of the list.
This means eating every 2.5 to 3 hours, eating whole healthy foods, being prepared with those healthy meals in the frig (means getting my bulk cooking done for the week each week), drinking at least 100oz of clean water each day, doing a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week, and doing strength training a minimum of 2 times a week.
Doesn’t sound like a lot to you? Well when I’ve got a bunch of other tasks looking at me on my list, it’s pretty easy to say, “I’ll work out tomorrow”, or “I’ll drink more water tomorrow”, etc. etc. I know, it’s really not a big deal to get up from your desk and go get some clean water, but have you ever today yourself the same thing – I’ll do that later, I’ve got to complete this task right now! Then later never comes, and suddenly it’s the next day. This is how habits get formed. 😉
When you’re in the trenches, feeling overwhelmed, and putting other things before your health, in the end it all kinda falls apart. Yes, it’s all connected and the better you treat your body, the more success and health you’ll have in all other areas of your life.
As far as feeling overwhelmed goes, I’m tuning into Oprah and Eckhart Tolle’s online webinar tonight – A New Earth. I really enjoy his teachings and I need to keep the focus not only on my body each day, but also on my mind and spirit.
What about you? What can you do to make your health and fitness the top priority in your life, starting now? Or, if you’d like to share how you keep your life in balance and avoid overwhelm while at the same time keeping your health and fitness forefront, I’d love to hear from you!
Good question! For a long time I put off getting in shape. I kept thinking about it and thinking about it. Finally, after New Years, I got on the ball. I have to say, I’ve never felt better. I have been eating much healthier and putting more focus on my well being. I love exercising and going to the gym now! I wish I would have done this long before now, but I think it’s better late than never!

Hi Jenna,
That’s awesome that you love exercising now! I love it too, once I get into it. It’s only when I get out of the groove that I have some resistance to getting back in.
Congratulations on your progress! 🙂
