Today I have wonderful results to report to you after my first full week of following the Six Week Body Makeover by Michael Thurmond. As I reported to you last week, I wanted to be able to give you an example of how you can pick yourself up after falling down after just starting your weight loss plan of action, and how you can regain your motivation and initial excitement.
I did fall down in my initial week of my experiment, however I wrote last week that I would stick with my plans anyway. Well, I did just that, and since last Monday I have dropped an additional 5.5 pounds (and 4 inches).
Now, depending on how heavy you are when you begin the program, some will lose 10 – 15 pounds in their first week. Of course, that isn’t all fat, but since you are getting off of processed food and excess sodium, your body goes through a period of detox and sheds excess fluids and some fat in the first week. After that initial week, my experience has been that weight loss slows down (it would be too much for me to be losing 5 pounds every week), but weight loss, and more importantly inch loss, does continue.
Remember that I’m someone who started out at 148.5 (last Monday). I have actually dropped 10 pounds eating per the 6WBMO in just one week before, but I did weigh more at that time. Additionally, the less weight that you have to lose, your rate of weight loss can be slower, especially when you get down to those last 10 pounds. Something else that will affect your speed of loss is your metabolism. If you have done a lot of dieting in the past, your metabolism might be very slow from restrictive eating, something you do not do when following the 6WBMO. It’s very important to eat in order to lose weight, rather than starve yourself through dieting!. 😉
What is most important to me in my results with the Six Week Body Makeover is inch loss and how I feel. I am much more interested in the size of clothes that I wear rather than the number on the scale, and inch loss is where that comes into play. However, beyond that, the way that I feel when I am eating the healthy foods that the Six Week Body Makeover taught me to eat (as well as the timing and combination) is what is most important to me.
I have so much more energy, and I have clarity of thought that I do not have when I am eating processed foods. Yes, the weight and the inches melt off of me, but there is no price that you can put on feeling great.
I must also add that I did include exercise in my program last week, however not even as much as is suggested in the 6WBMO. I completed one resistance training session (20 minutes) and 3 cardio sessions (treadmill, 30 minutes each). I will step that up this week and complete the recommended amount to get the best (and quickest) results: 2 body sculpting sessions (resistance training) and 5 cardio sessions, which still is not a huge time commitment at all. With the 6WBMO you work out effectively instead of excessively.
I will give you another update next Monday and we’ll see just how far I get in these 6 weeks. If you haven’t read my introduction post yet regarding the Six Week Body Makeover, you can read that here. If you would like to learn more or purchase the 6WBMO and get started with your own makeover, you can find it here:
Good for you! I dusted off my 6WBMO folder today to get back on the plan. I really do love it. I just have to get more schooled on recipes (thanks for pointing me toward the recipe forum) because there’s only so much poached chicken, steamed brown rice, and steamed veggies a girl can eat!
Wow congratulations! I bet you’re feeling hotter than ever. I’m interested to see how much you can lose over the next few weeks.
@Beth, it is an excellent program, isn’t it? 😉 I love the recipes, too, and now there is also a cookbook that is included with the kit. If you already have your kit, you can purchase the cookbook separately, that’s what I did.
@Court, thanks! I’m working on it, so we’ll see how far I get, stay tuned! 🙂
Hi! I am just starting a fitness related website. Can I solicit your thoughts on high intensity interval training? I just included it in a recent blog workoutreview.blogspot.com What do you think?
J,
I don’t actually have much experience with that type of training, I work out at home using resistance bands instead of gym equipment. They provide the same type of results as the machines, but I can target specific muscles. Besides, I really like working out at home. 😉
I also use resistance bands because I really can’t afford huge gym equipment, nor do I have the room for it. I’m pretty content with the bands though.
Hi, thanks for your comments!
I love my resistance bands. You just can’t beat the workout you get with them without having to buy a gym membership, or home gym equipment! 😉
