Do you feel hopeless about your weight? More specifically, do you feel hopeless that you’ll ever lose weight?
Maybe it’s not that you feel hopeless that you’ll lose weight because you’ve lost weight so many times before. But because you always gain it back, maybe you feel hopeless that you’ll ever be able to keep it off.
So maybe what you really feel hopeless about is losing weight and keeping it off, permanently.
The good news is that permanent weight loss is possible, but it’s not possible if you feel hopeless you’ll ever have it. The hopeless vibration cancels out the rest.
If You Feel Hopeless about Your Weight Read This
You know… if you feel hopeless about your weight and you’ve failed over and over and over again to keep the weight off, then it makes sense that you might be feeling depressed and despondent.
I understand, I’ve been there before too! But what you need to know (and what I learned myself) is that all of your hopelessness begins with a thought.
For example, do you ever think the thought, “I’ll never lose weight?”. Or, do you ever think:
- I can’t lose weight
- It’s too hard for me to lose weight
- I’ll fail at weight loss again anyway, why try?
- I’m destined to be fat
- Everyone else can lose weight, but not me
- Nothing works for me
If you often think thoughts like the ones in my list then it’s no wonder you feel hopeless about your weight, these are really depressing thoughts!
But what can you do about it? Well… you can start right now by becoming more mindful of your thoughts.
You cannot change anything you’re not aware of. So start by doing this:
7-day Exercise If You Feel Hopeless about Your Weight
Starting today and each day for the next 7 days, do the following: carry a small notebook with you like this one at all times and with a pen, keep it really simple by writing down each of your negative thoughts about your weight that makes you feel depressed or hopeless about your weight.
You don’t need to write a book – simply notice, grab, and write. Meaning..
- Notice you’re feeling bad
- Grab the the negative thought you’re thinking
- Write the thought in your notebook
FYI: your negative emotion is the sign you’re thinking negative thoughts. Your thoughts are what motivate your emotional state, which in turn, will motivate your emotional eating, and then give you the result of overweight on your body.
See how that works?
Why am I suggesting you use pen on paper?
There is a connection that occurs between your head, hand, and heart when you write pen on paper. You cannot get that connection by talking into your phone, typing into your phone, or using a keyboard. You won’t get as much out of this exercise if you don’t use pen on paper.
Writing pen on paper also gets you out of your head, and present in the moment.
When you are present in the moment you cannot be caught up in your head, which is where all of you negative thoughts swirl around and drive your anxiety, fear, depression and hopelessness.
If you keep it simple and follow my simple instructions you will raise your level of awareness of the negative thoughts that are causing you to feel hopeless about your weight and hopeless about achieving permanent weight loss.
This will be a great first step towards becoming more self-aware and if you get coaching with a permanent weight loss coach focuses on your Inner Self transformation (so that you can get out of your own way and achieve permanent weight loss), then I suggest you share your 7-week paperwork with her so that she can help you move on to the next steps of shifting your beliefs, self-image, fat identity, and more.
If You Want To Go Further (and Get Permanent Weight Loss!)
The exercise above is a wonderful, simple, first step. Whenever you take a step to raise your self-awareness, this is a good thing.
But you know what I’ve observed since I began professionally coaching weight loss coaching clients in 2009?
I’ve observed that one of the biggest challenges all of my clients share is the challenge of taking action, and then, staying consistent with their new action.
What does this mean for you?
Well, the exercise I gave you above is very simple, but without coaching, accountability, and two-way communication with a professional permanent weight loss coach, do you want to guess how many people will follow through for 7 days in a row, following the instructions I gave above?
The stats are maybe one person out of 100 who read this article will follow my simple instructions and stick with it a full 7 days. And then, that one person out of 100 will raise their self-awareness a bit, but then they won’t have the remaining 98% of the solution they desperately need in order to lose weight for good.
But what about the other 99 people? Well, they’ll bounce to another Google search result, looking for more information about how to get motivated to lose weight. but while they’re bouncing around, looking for more weight loss tips and weight loss information, they’re still struggling.
They continue to struggle with emotional eating, negative emotions, feeling hopeless, depressed, and binge eating to try to escape all of it.
